FanFest and One Book One Village are Friends supported events happening at the Library this October. FanFest is a chance for people of all ages to show their dedication to their favorite fandoms. One Book One Village involves the community reading the same book at the same time and sharing experiences through related programs, discussions, and author events.

Do you love Friends books sales and want to support the Library? We'd love to hear from you! We are looking for volunteers to help set up before book sales, cashier and provide assistance on sale days, and take down after book sales. Volunteers of all ages and abilities are welcome.

People hunting for good bargains found a lot to be happy about at the Friends Summer Book Sale. Shoppers turned our for great deals on books, movies, music, and more at three locations around the library. Funds raised directly support MPPL programs and other initiatives that raise the quality of the Library for patrons, staff, and members of the community.

The first Friends Book Sale of 2022 was a HUGE success! People turned out in large numbers to shop the huge selection of items in the parking garage and two rooms in the library. We raised more for the Mount Prospect Public Library in two days than we had done previously with many three-day sales before the pandemic.

The Friends will gladly accept your gently used items. Your donations will help support Library programs and initiatives by being included in future Friends book sales. |
For children up to grade 5 along with their families. Get a chance to meet author/illustrator Evan Turk and hear him read his book You Are Home: An Ode to the National Parks in the culminating event of the library's Woven Together program. The library’s Woven Together Community Read initiative brings together children and educators to celebrate great works of literature, encourage a love of reading, and spark discussions.
Come visit our two new self-service shelves, on the 2nd floor, stocked with individually priced holiday-themed items for children and adults, as well as year-round, gift-quality books/DVDs/CDs/puzzles. Shelves will be restocked as space opens up, so shop early and often!

The first ever Friends of the Library garage sale was a huge success. The Friends sold an estimated 16,000 books, DVDs, CDs, and other items. The community turned out in huge numbers with many people taking advantage of the "bag sale" pricing.
